>My aim today is to (pen) speed draw buildings and focus on using acetate.
I will also be adding my abstract technique first before applying the acetate
to it.
I thought this was really successful because you were clearly able see my
technique in the abstract. What really got me amazed was how the buildings
blended in nicely with the abstract as you can barely notice the two buildings
that are at the bottom of the piece but you can see some of the skylines. When
I used the black thread and then painted unto it you could see less of the
lines created by the thread. To improve this I will try leaving the thread on
the piece for a few seconds or minutes before removing it in order to make the
lines a little clearer. I really thought the cardboard decoupage
worked very well because you were not able to see the cardboard at all. The
acetate really worked well in this piece because it looked like buildings were drawn.
The speed drawings I did
really went well as I used the continuous line drawing technique to create a
dreamy effect. The buildings fading into
the abstract, I believe, were powerful as it connects with my theme and
research “mental imagery.” Finally, I decided to use this refinement for
my final piece. For my next refinement I am going to carry out this exact same method
but on cardboard instead. Using a canvas would be too delicate for a piece like
this as I would have to cut the canvas, thus leading to cardboard as it is
hard.
